The increasing demands we make on the world’s finite resources has led to global climate change. The Council believes that much can be done at a local level to combat this and takes its role in working towards a sustainable future very seriously.
We are also committed to empowering residents and businesses in the Royal Borough to do the same. As part of this commitment we are making environmental information we hold available to all.
We are also inviting you to engage in the vision and work of our Environment Strategy, which aims to ensure the Royal Borough is a greener, healthier and cleaner place to live, work and play.
We have a lot of information that schools you will find useful, whether you are doing a project on the local nature in the borough and want to access information from our Ecology Centre or working on a green travel plan for you school.

Children might also find the environmental pages on KC Central, the Council’s website for young people, really useful. To find out information about buying green, recycling, green travel and much, much more please see Your environment- KC Central.
These pages can help you deal with the often distressing experience of dealiing with a heatwave or flooding.
The monsoon-like rain during July 2007 caused massive disruption and damage across large swathes of the country, and Kensington and Chelsea was also badly affected. We need your help to find out who was affected and where the worst of the local flooding took place.
How you can contribute in improving the environment? There are many ways you can help the environment, recycling for example; we can give you all the information you need to sort out what and how to recycle your waste.
How about joining the Council’s Car Club and do your bit to reduce traffic and improve air quality in the borough?
If you are running a business in the borough then you will no doubt want to know how the changes to the smoking laws will affect you. We have a lot of information here that you should find useful.
You can also find information about the services we provide to help you with your commercial waste.
The above are just a few examples of the kind of information we hold. You can find out more by looking through our policies and strategies that reflect or impact the environment:
The Council hopes you find this information helpful and would welcome any feedback, in particular:
