Lightbulb recycling

Why recycle light bulbs?

The glass and metal in non-working light bulbs can be recycled and re-used in the general marketplace. Light bulbs which have been smashed should not be recycled. Smashed light bulbs should be wrapped carefully in newspaper and placed in your normal refuse bag or bin.

Light bulbs for recycling should NOT be placed in the orange recycling bag or mixed recycling bank.

Where to recycle light bulbs

You can take light bulbs for recycling to the Western Riverside Re-use and Recycling Centre, Smuggler’s Way, Wandsworth, SW18 1EG.  Please look for the special container in which to deposit light bulbs.

You can also leave light bulbs for recycling (along with batteries) in any Ryness electrical store. The stores either in, or closest to, Kensington and Chelsea are:

Energy Saving light bulbs

The Council encourages all residents to use energy-saving light bulbs. Not only are these more efficient in their use of electricity, but they last much longer than normal light bulbs.
