2007 awards for food safety training service

The Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea’s food safety training service received accolades at a Society of Food Hygiene and Technology conference in London on 15 November 2007.

The judges awarded the Council the following:

  • Company with more than 100 employees Award of the Year
  • Best New Product (for a wordless DVD) - one of three nominated finalists
  • Best Training Company - one of three nominated finalists

The Council’s training service has been running since 1989 and now runs a range of accredited and non-accredited courses for approximately 3000 food handlers per annum who work in communities, education, voluntary organisations, local authorities, health and social care, and food businesses.

The service provides alternative training interventions (in addition to traditional courses) such as using a range of media or workshops to help learning. It works with a wide range of examination bodies, adult and community learning agencies or other organisations.
