Halaal Food - Muslim Food BoardThe Muslim Food Board (U.K.) was established in 1992. It is an independent organisation serving Halaal consumers throughout U.K. There are about one-and-a-half million Muslims in the UK and over a billion world-wide. The commonality between all Muslims is that they must only consume Halaal food. Due to the fact that it is virtually impossible to establish whether a product is Halaal or not simply by reading the ingredients, Muslims in the UK found it very difficult to buy only Halaal food products. The investigation and certification of food products can be a complex task and it was evident that a formal organisation to tackle such tasks was needed.
