Leaving care

It is often difficult for young people who leave care to find somewhere to live. There have been recent changes to extend homeless priority need categories to include care leavers aged 18,19 and 20 who are considered to be vulnerable because of time spent in care. The Housing Department at the Town Hall will be able to discuss your situation with you further.

If you are a care leaver or soon to be leaving care you may have discussed your future options with the Social Services Department already. If not, you should speak to your Social Worker or Leaving Care Worker about finding accommodation and applying for financial help.

The Independent Support Team provide support for young people aged 18-21 who have been in the care of Kensington and Chelsea Social Services. Contact them for further information.
