Kensington Memorial Park was one of the first of the major parks to be scheduled for improvement. An extensive consultation was carried out with the local community in order to determine how it should be improved. The consultation documents, as well as their findings, can be viewed by clicking on the link below.

Further public consultation around specific features of the park will take place as and when it is needed and the Council will work with the Friends of St Marks Park at every stage of the redesign of the park.

Phase One  (April - September 2007)

Following the consultation it was decided that the following works would constitute the first phase of the project:

  • new toddler and junior play areas to replace the existing playground
  • new water play area to replace existing paddling pool
  • new plant room, children’s changing rooms and toilets
  • re-aligned access ramp from café area
  • associated landscaping and planting works
