Possible plans for Little Wormwood Scrubs

What we could do in the future

Some ideas for the future development of the park include:

  • keeping the wildness of the park; looking after the woodland and scrub areas better to make the most of them
  • making the large grass space into an informal  recreation area by making it level and safe to run on
  • arranging community sports activities (such as football training or health walks), to encourage more people to use the park more often
  • moving all the play equipment to the same area (with new and better play equipment – we will involve local people in any new designs)
  • changing the old dog pen into a dog-free, fenced garden, with flowers and seating
  • widening the paths to make them suitable for walking and running
  • introducing picnic benches in two areas; along the edge of the scrub area; and near the entrance to the Dalgarno Estate
  • introducing more benches around the edge of the path
  • improving the buildings  for play services; with facilities for environmental education, and public toilets
  • adding outdoor gym equipment (such as monkey bars) around the edge of the park
  • having floor level lighting between the play area and the Dalgarno Gardens gate; to make it safer for people using the after-school club in winter
