Current population and health and social service provision

Joint Strategy Needs Assessment

We are in the process of gathering information about the borough’s current population and the services we provide.

The information available is displayed in a series of maps and graphs under the appropriate heading and this will be updated on a regular basis. There are two maps under most headings.  Eventually data will be presented for every category listed. Where is it currently not available, a date has been given to show when it is anticipated.

Note: The Department of Health’s Joint Strategic Needs Assessment guidance sets out specific information that we must include, though this does not preclude us from covering other areas.

Data categories

  • Demography by ward (including population distribution by age, ethnicity, faith and inward migration)
  • Social and Environmental Context by ward (including deprivation, living arrangements, employment and environment)
  • Lifestyle and Risk Factors by ward (including smoking, obesity and diet, alcohol, physical activity, sexual health and hypertension)
  • Health, Ill Health and Disability by ward (including life expectancy, distribution of circulatory diseases, cancer, infectious diseases, dental issues, mental health, trauma and musculo-skeletal disease)
  • Services by ward
