‘Tent in the Park’ Supplementary Planning Document

Consultation on the Draft Planning Brief for the site of the former Commonwealth Institute

Consultation period: The consultation runs from 4 November 2008 until 16 December.

The SPD was initially consulted on in February 2008, however owing to the time lapsed and material changes to the initial draft since the first consultation, the Council has decided to consult on this revised draft SPD.

The draft SPD sets out the principles to shape the function and appearance of any development at part of the Commonwealth Institute site. In particular, this will include proposals to integrate any future development within the local townscape and ensure that any future development secures the refurbishment and long term future of the iconic listed Commonwealth Institute building. The SPD forms part of the Local Development Framework; supplements the Unitary Development Plan (UDP) and must be consistent with national and regional planning policy.

In accordance with the Council’s Statement of Community Involvement and Regulation 17 of the Town and Country Planning (Local Development) (England) Regulations 2004, the Council is consulting on the draft SPD for a period of six weeks, from 4 November 2008 to 16 December 2008. Please note: The consultation closes at 23:59 on 16 December 2008. We will not be able to accept any late responses.

The draft SPD, together with all other supporting documents, are available below. However, copies of the documents are available for inspection at the Planning Information Desk, Town Hall and at all local libraries in the Royal Borough.
