The consultation on the Draft Air Quality SPD has now closed. The SPD will be adopted by April 2009.
The draft Air Quality Supplement Planning Document (SPD) will form part of the Local Development Framework and will replace the Council’s existing Air Quality SPG, May 2002. The SPD sets out the Council’s requirements for improving air quality in new development, conversions and change of use. It supplements Unitary Development Plan (UDP) Policies PU1 and PU2 and provides detailed guidance on their implementation. The draft SPD will also help implement the objectives of the Air Quality Action Plan (AQAP) relating to land use. The draft SPD also supplements regional and national planning policy, and in particular Planning Policy Statement 23: Planning and Pollution Control.
In accordance with the Council’s Statement of Community Involvement and Regulation 17 of the Town and Country Planning (Local Development) (England) Regulations 2004, the Council is consulting on the draft SPD for a period of six weeks, from 4 November 2008 to 16 December 2008. Please note: The consultation closes at 23:59 on 16 December 2008. We will not be able to accept any late responses.
The draft SPD, together with all other supporting documents, are available below. However, copies of the documents are available for inspection at the Planning Information Desk, Town Hall and at all local libraries in the Royal Borough.
The comments raised during the consultation will be recorded. Officers will consider a response and propose amendments to the SPD and/or Sustainability Appraisal where appropriate. The final SPD, together with the schedule of comments and officer responses, will then be presented to Councillors for approval.
The Air Quality SPG will only be replaced once the Air Quality SPD is formally adopted by the Council. Therefore, this SPG will continue to be used as a material planning consideration. You can download the relevant documents below:
