Adoption and Fostering

Children smiling

Social Services work to help families to stay together. In exceptional circumstances it may be in the best interests of the child not to live with their family. This can be just for a few days to give the family time to sort out their problems or for longer periods.

Foster care may last for a short time, such as an overnight stay, or for longer periods of time, such as two years or more, until a permanent new family is found.

Fostering

Fostering is about caring for children or young people in your own home on a temporary basis whilst their own parents are unable to look after them. This can be just for a few days to give the family time to sort out their problems.
