Verification Number

The Council operates under a Leader with a Cabinet form of executive.

Kensington and Chelsea electors may petition the Council to hold a referendum on whether or not the Council should have a directly elected Mayor. The number of signatures on the petition must equal or exceed the verification number in order to trigger the holding of a referendum. This is the number equal to 5 per cent of Local Government Electors within the borough.

In accordance with Regulation 4 of the Local Authorities (Referendums) (Petitions and Directions) Regulations 2000 (as amended), I am giving notice that the verification number for the Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea is:

5154

This number shall be used for verification purposes in relation to any petition presented to the authority in the period of 12 months beginning on 1 April 2008.
