Best Bar None 2013

The Royal Borough is launching its annual Best Bar None awards, aimed at recognising the best pubs, bars and clubs in Kensington and Chelsea and giving them a chance to demonstrate excellent management standards.

Landlords and managers of all the borough’s pubs, bars and clubs will be able to submit applications for this year’s membership from Monday 8 April to Friday 7 June, with the awards presentation taking place in November 2013.

Best Bar None encourages bar owners and managers to aim to make their pubs and clubs crime-free and to make sure that their customers do not disturb their neighbours.

In 2012 the Drayton Arms, a pub on Old Brompton Road and one of the founder members of the scheme, was the overall winner for the second time. The Drayton Arms has continued to raise its own standards, work in partnership with the Council and others, and also displaying excellent management practices.

Leigh Philips, Manager of the Drayton Arms, said: "We are all incredibly proud to have won the Best Pub and Overall winner award for the Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea Best Bar None scheme for a second time at the Drayton Arms.

Having participated in the scheme since its inception, I have found it valuable to have an independent review each year of our policies and procedures in relation to the reduction of crime and disorder, and the health and safety and welfare of our guests, neighbours and team.

It is great to have our high standards recognised by the Council and Partner agencies, and since winning we have benefitted from an increase in footfall from both locals and tourists alike."

The scheme currently has 48 pub, bar and club members across the borough; it continues to be one of the largest schemes in the country and is still supported by Diageo Great Britain.
