What we do
We enforce criminal legislation controlling the quantity,
quality, price, description and safety of most goods and
services. We achieve this by:
- carrying out focussed and targeted
inspections based on the level of risk
- responding to complaints and
enquiries
- advising local businesses on how to comply
with the law
- investigating alleged breaches of the
criminal law, and taking enforcement action where appropriate
- working in partnership with other
enforcement bodies such as the police
- working on specific projects to safeguard
vulnerable people and protect their health and well-being
Our Vision
Three priorities: HEALTH, PROSPERITY AND PROTECTION. Going from
strength to strength, we will build on our achievements as part of
our dedication to improve the quality of life. We strive to make
things better, safer and easier.
Our Mission Statement
The Trading Standards Team is committed to achieving a fair and
safe trading environment to benefit local residents, businesses and
visitors to the area.
We will ensure that when we enforce the criminal law our actions
are proportionate, consistent, fair, and appropriate, why action
being taken is understood by those it affects, what is expected
from them and what they should expect from us. We aim to be helpful
and open in our actions and target our resources at the highest
risk areas.
