Ice cream vans
The Royal Borough does not issue licences for ice cream vans.
Anybody found trading from an ice cream van in the Royal Borough
will be prosecuted for illegal street trading and their vehicle
will be confiscated. Offenders will be taken to Court and subject
to a Magistrates Court Order. The vehicle can be destroyed or sold.
If the condition of the vehicle is dangerous, Police will be called
and the vehicle will remain off the road until repaired.
Trading from vehicles
Car valeting by companies who roam from place to place is an
offence and is considered to be illegal street trading. The
offender can be taken before a Magistrate or a Fixed Penalty Notice
can be served. It is also possible for the vehicle to be seized and
made the subject of a confiscation order.
Car screen washing is considered to be illegal street trading
and as such is an offence.
Mobile advertising boards
The use of mobile boards and hand-held placards advertising
things such as goods for sale or premises selling food, is
regulated in certain streets in the Borough. The list of these
streets can be obtained by contacting Streetline on 020 7361 3001
