Contingency Planning Unit

To be able to cope with an emergency situation the Council creates and validates plans, and provides training and exercises for internal and external staff in order to pre-empt any event that could seriously disrupt the borough's functions. Within the Contingency Planning Unit there is a manager, two officers and one assistant. They all plan for serious incidents that could threaten human and/or environmental welfare. We also work with partner agencies. The team’s tasks include:

  •  assessing local risks
  •  writing, testing and validating plans
  •  training and exercising
  •  sharing information and working together with partner agencies
  •  warning and informing residents and businesses of risks
  •  business continuity planning
  •  promoting business continuity to the local community
