Emergency service - for out of office hours
An emergency service (for example, on religious grounds) for the
registration of deaths is available on a 'non-guaranteed' basis on
Sundays and Bank Holidays, excepting UK Religious Holidays (Good
Friday, Easter Sunday, Whit Sunday, Christmas Day and Boxing Day,
when it falls on a Sunday).
The telephone number for this service is 020 7361
3000 however it is only for use in an emergency.
This telephone number is for the Borough Duty Officer who will
then contact the Officer on call. You must telephone between the
hours of 9am and 10am if you require to be seen that day.
A Green Burial Form may be issued only if the Medical
Certificate of Cause of Death is completed correctly by the Doctor
certifying death and if the death does not need to be reported to
the Coroner. You will need to travel to the location of the Officer
on call.
You should then make arrangements to re-attend the Register
Office on the next working day in order to register the death in
full.
The Kensington and Chelsea Register Office is adopting a new
code of practice in the way it delivers its services to the public.
This initiative is called “New Governance” and enables the Council
to have greater control over the way the Registration Service is
delivered locally whilst signing up to a nationally agreed set of
standards. If you are interested in how the Register Office is
performing then please read our Service
Delivery Agreement page.
