Approved venues

The Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea is pleased to be able to offer a range of different venues for civil ceremonies. Some of our venues can offer facilities for parties of over 100 people whilst others are more suitable for smaller, intimate ceremonies.

Once you have contacted the venue of your choice to ascertain their availability, it is then vitally important that you contact this office and confirm that Registration Officers will be available on your chosen day and time.

One of the advantages in choosing a Royal Borough approved venue for your marriage or civil partnership registration is that you may customise your ceremony with readings and music and take your time, ensuring that not only yourselves but your guests can relax and enjoy the experience.

This extra time also allows you and your partner to be interviewed (a legal requirement) separately by the Registrar prior to the ceremony. This means that the first time you see each other will be when you stand side by side to take your vows thus maintaining an important tradition.

If you are planning on getting married or forming a civil partnership at any one of our approved venues for civil ceremonies your booking will be subject to a non-refundable booking fee. There will also be additional fees to pay for the attendance of the Registrars at your ceremony. These additional fees must be paid no later than four weeks before the ceremony.

The costs of an Approved Venue marriage or civil partnership registration are as follows:

We are able to attend marriages or civil partnership registrations at approved premises on any day including Bank Holidays (subject to staff availability) but the law requires that your ceremony must take place between the hours of 8.00 am and 6.00 pm. In order to ensure that your ceremony is completed by 6.00 pm, the latest time we will book any ceremony is 5.00 pm.
