The Deputy Mayor, Councillor the Lady (Victoria) Borwick
F.R.S.A.
Cllr Lady Borwick was born in London in 1956 and has lived and
worked in the city all her life. Married to Jamie, they
have four children.

Cllr Lady Borwick has been a school governor of Ainsworth
Nursery School, now Golborne Children’s Centre since 1990 and has
worked with a wide variety of local organisations and residents
groups. Cllr Borwick joined Kensington and Chelsea Council in 2000
as Councillor for Abingdon Ward. She has served on a range of
committees including Education, Libraries and Arts, now Family and
Children’s Services, Planning, and is currently Chair of the
Borough Community Relations Group.
As an elected London wide Member of the Greater London Assembly,
Cllr Lady Borwick has recently been appointed the Statutory Deputy
Mayor to Boris Johnson. Lady Borwick has served on the Transport
committee, leading the investigation on reducing the congestion in
Oxford Street, and examining more innovative solutions to the
transport issues in this part of London. Cllr Lady Borwick served
on the Economics, Culture, Media and Sport committee including
scrutiny of the budget for the Olympics Games. She also served on
the Standards Committee, and undertook Confirmation Hearings. As
Chairman of the Health and Public Services committee at the GLA,
Cllr Lady Borwick has worked in cross party groups on improving
access to childcare, reducing fuel poverty, a review of the
emergency services including detailed work on the London Ambulance
Service and how the GLA could help children in care.
As a Member of the Metropolitan Police Authority, Cllr Lady
Borwick was Chairman of the Civil Liberties Panel leading the
public scrutiny of public order policing 'Responding to G20', and
the scrutiny of the use of DNA in policing: 'Protecting the
innocent'. Within the MPA, Victoria was also Vice Chairman of the
Communities, Equalities and People Committee.
In her working life, Cllr Lady Borwick has held senior
management positions at the P&O Group, including Director of
Clarion Events, based at Earls Court and Olympia, and she has also
worked for the Open Europe Think Tank.
