Family and Children’s Services
Scrutiny Committee

The Family and Children’s Services (FCS) Scrutiny Committee has
a membership of eleven Councillors, plus four co-opted voting
members and two co-opted non-voting members, and is currently
chaired by
Councillor Professor Sir Anthony Coates. The Committee meets
regularly throughout the year and all meetings are open to members
of the public, unless otherwise indicated. For information about
upcoming meetings dates and associated paperwork, and for full
details about the Committee’s membership, please see the
Committee documents.
Alongside its important work monitoring school
performance, this Committee ensures that the borough delivers
on its commitment to children’s social care, youth services and
libraries. As well as holding decision-makers to account, each year
the Committee focuses its attention on a number of in-depth
reviews.
Reports of previous reviews undertaken by this Committee can be
found in the Scrutiny Library.
