How to get involved
It is important that Scrutiny reflects needs and concerns of
those who live and work in the borough. In order to ensure this, we
need members of the public to get involved and contribute to our
work.
Residents of Kensington and Chelsea can help by participating in
scrutiny consultations, attending committee meetings, sharing
opinions on the topics under consideration and suggesting future
topics for Scrutiny to examine.
The following list gives examples of ways to get involved:
1. Attend and observe a Scrutiny Committee meeting
Between them, our Scrutiny Committees remits cover all aspects
of public services. Find out which Scrutiny Committee is
responsible for the topic you are interested in and come along to a
public meeting. Alternatively, all our agendas and minutes are available online, so you
can catch up on what happened, even if you can’t attend in
person.
2. Make a suggestion for the annual programme
Each summer, the Scrutiny Committees set a programme of work for
the year, to ensure they are scrutinising the most important topics
and issues falling under their remit. The 2010-11 annual programme
can be found in our Scrutiny Library.
If you have a idea for an issue that could be scrutinised, please
let us know.
3. Give evidence to a working group
Each year Scrutiny Committees establish time-limited working
groups to look at the issues identified in the annual programme.
These working groups take evidence and views from a wide range of
stakeholders. If you would like to share your views on one of the
topics under review, then please contact the Scrutiny Manager,
Clair Bantin, to
discuss this. Remember, if you don’t want to give evidence in
person, you can always send in a written submission for the group
to consider.
