Child Benefit
Child Benefit can be paid for a child or qualifying young
person. A child is any person under the age of 16, and a qualifying
young person is someone who is:
- aged 16 to 19 years old and is in full-time, non-advanced
education, or approved training
Or
- aged 16 or 17 and has left full-time,
non-advanced education or approved training, and has registered for
non advanced education, work or training with the Careers or
Connexions Service (in Northern Ireland, the Department for
Employment and Learning or an Education and Library Board).
You should make your claim as soon as your
child is born or comes to live with you. If you delay, you may lose
benefit.
