New Deal
New Deal was set up to support unemployed
people moving into work. People on the New Deal programme are
assigned a personal adviser who will be their individual contact
whilst looking for work. Your personal adviser will get to know you
and will be able to match you to a suitable job.
One of the New Deal programmes on offer is New
Deal for Lone Parents (NDLP). You are eligible for this programme
if:
- you are bringing up a child as a lone parent
- your youngest child is under the age of 16 and you are not
working
- you are working less than 16 hours per week
Your NDLP personal adviser will not only be
able to help you find suitable jobs, but will also help you with
applications and advise on any training or childcare issues.
They can also advise on how your benefits will
change if you are coming off Income Support, and on applying for
Tax Credits when you are working.
