Parent and Toddler Groups
Parent and toddler groups tend to cater mostly for parents with
under-threes, but children under five can usually attend. The
groups may be based in church halls, community venues or centres
where children are cared for such as nurseries and playgroups. Toys
and activities are provided for the children while the adults have
a chance to socialise.
Parent and toddler groups are not registered with Ofsted as the
parent or carer must stay with the child at all times. Parent and
toddler groups are often voluntary and depend on volunteers to run
them. However, there may be qualified staff on hand if the group is
run in a childcare setting such as a nursery.
Some groups are free, whilst others ask for a contribution
towards refreshments, which may take the form of a weekly charge or
a subscription.
There are weekly events for babies and toddlers at all
Kensington and Chelsea libraries. Tickets are free and must be
booked in advance.
