Youth club and holiday projects at Canalside
Although adventurous activities are the medium, the youth club
is first and foremost a social education facility, concerned with
the development of children and young people.
Watersports and outdoor pursuits encourage personal development
and good social skills amongst the young people who attend, most of
whom arrive individually.
Canoeing and kayaking are taught as part of the onsite
programme. Regular offsite day and residential trips are also
organised, which enables members to broaden their horizons, widen
their experiences and test themselves in more challenging
environments.
Canalside caters for all abilities and works with young people
from ages of 9 to 19 and up to 25 for those with
disabilities. The centre opens all year round and operates
holiday projects that include trips to Spain, France and all over
the UK, visiting exciting venues for practicing skills learnt at
Canalside.
Children and young adults are welcome to take part in
trampolining, canoeing, kayaking, bell boating and other
adventurous activities. In addition to being involved in physical
and challenging activities, the youth club also has a wide range of
additional activities such as offsite trips, film nights,
construction and art-based projects. What's more attendees don’t
even need any specialist gear, just a full change of clothes
(including spare shoes) towel and some shower gel and we will
supply the expertise and equipment.
The Canalside activity centre strives to be an inclusive
environment, therefore, we encourage young people with disabilities
to use our facilities, so do not hesitate to call us and find out
how we can best meet your needs.
