The smaller your business the bigger the impact will be if a member of your staff has a serious accident, or is off sick for an extended period of time. It could even put you out of business. If you still need convincing visit www.hse.gov.uk/shatteredlives and www.hse.gov.uk/betterbusiness and consider the following:
Look after yourself, your colleagues, and customers so that no one has to look after you or them. Uninsured costs outweigh those covered by insurance policies by as much as 10:1. Sick-pay, damage or loss of product and materials, repairs to plant and equipment, overtime working and temporary staff, production delays, investigation time and fines are NOT covered by insurance. A lack of proper training, instruction, supervision and information can lead to ignorance of safe working practices and a complacent attitude.
