Recycling printer cartridges
Why recycle printer cartridges?
Used printer cartridges can easily be refilled and reused, which
saves precious resources such as oil. Refilled printer cartridges
work just as well as new ones. The scheme used by the Council means
that the baby charity, 'Tommy’s' benefits every time you send back
a printer cartridge for recycling.
How do I recycle my printer cartridges?
Printer cartridge recycling bags are available free of charge
from your local library, the Town Hall and the Council Offices.
Just place the used printer cartridges into it and post it off. The
envelope is FREEPOST so there is no postage cost.
What types of printer cartridge can I recycle?
You can only recycle inkjet printer cartridges in the FREEPOST
recycling envelope. You can recycle the following empty
cartridges:
- Hewlett Packard
- Lexmark

Please note: please do not send any other type
of cartridge in the FREEPOST envelopes.
How do I recycle other types of cartridge?
If you have other printer cartridges, such as laser cartridges,
you can recycle them at the purple inkjet and laser recycling banks
across the borough.
Please see below for details of their locations. If you have any
other type of printer cartridge which you would like to recycle but
are unsure about, please ring this freephone number for advice:
0800 435576.
Computer recycling
It is possible to recycle an old or unwanted PC by donating it
to an organisation that refurbishes old PCs for use in Third World
countries. This is an excellent way of ensuring that your old PC
doesn’t end up in landfill.
