Environmental visits for schools

Ecology Activities

A new Ecology Centre

Work will begin on a new Ecology Centre in Holland Park in December 2012, on the site of the current Play Hut in the Adventure Playground.

While work is underway the Children’s Forum will still take place in Holland Park.

You can find out more about the plans by visiting our Frequently Asked Questions

If you have any other questions please email NECenquires@rbkc.gov.uk or ask at Holland Park reception.

The works are being undertaken by the GB Group.

The Ecology Centre provides a key facility for local schools to study and enjoy the natural environment, and can be booked for field trips and environmental education workshops throughout the year.

The centre, located in the stable yard of Holland House, is well resourced with a range of scientific equipment, reference materials, live and static specimens and other learning and teaching facilities.

Outdoor investigations take place in the Holland Park Wildlife Area, which features a superb wildlife pond with a dipping platform; woodland and grassland habitats. Visiting groups can work independently or with a member of staff.

We offer curriculum-linked lessons as well as creative cross-curricular and a Forest School programme. Popular sessions include habitats, plant studies, food chains and nature explorers.
