Road Safety and Travel Planning

Over the past 30 years, car usage in the UK has grown rapidly. Road traffic has increased by 88 per cent since 1980. As people continue to drive more, levels of physical activity have decreased. Over 20 per cent of children leaving primary school in the Royal Borough are obese. Moreover, transport contributes 15 per cent of CO2 emissions in the Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea and is the largest contributor to air pollution.

We are committed to reducing traffic congestion and improving the safety and wellbeing of residents and visitors. In order to do this, we are implementing a wide range of initiatives to encourage and facilitate active and sustainable modes of travel, while improving the safety of all road users within the Royal Borough.
