The Future of the Curve

Originally operating from the Westway Sports Centre, the Community Assistance Centre was set up after the tragic events of 14 June to provide services to survivors and residents affected by the Grenfell Tower fire. This centre is now located at The Curve, 10 Bard Road, W10 6TP.

We are working to shape the future of the centre to ensure that it feels more like your centre, so that it can help families and the community rebuild and recover as far as possible.

Survivors and residents of the North Kensington area are best placed to know what services are needed to make this happen and we want to be led by you. Please help us do this by completing this survey and letting us know what you think.

Current plans and progress to date - your views and feedback:

Our aim is to work with you to transform the Curve into:

- A recovery centre for everyone affected by the Grenfell Tower fire, where survivors and residents can access specialist and community based services;
- A resource for the affected community, led by the community, offering meeting spaces, communal activities and a welcoming and open space for eating, socialising and holding events.

To improve the way the Curve works and help deliver this, we have:

- Recruited four centre managers, three of whom are members of the community who have been helping families since June
- Tried to improve services and will continue to improve them
- Made some changes to create a safer place with the correct policies and procedures
- Built a calendar of events to widen the range of services available at the centre and will continue to provide a range of activities
- Started to create a Residents' Steering Group, which will ensure residents' voices are at the centre of everything we do
- Completed works to the building, such as changing the layout and building a kitchen to make it a more welcoming place

In the future, we are planning to:

- Listen to and empower you to lead the direction of the centre
- Invite members of the community to form and lead a Residents' Steering Group and a Board of Governors that will hold staff to account and ensure residents needs are met
- Redesign the space based on your priorities
- Prioritise and make use of the skills in the community by creating paid opportunities for local people
- Manage new services that you have asked for and work to ensure that residents always receive the highest quality support
- Establish a forum with our local charity partners to receive advice, share good practice and provide residents with a joined up and connected service
