Welcome to Kensington and Chelsea's new house exchange site.
As you may be aware, we are currently carrying out an audit of the Mutual Exchange website. We have written to everyone that is registered asking them for comments on the website and asked that they now all provide some kind of contact information, whether it is a phone number or an e mail address. We are now also offering regular sessions at the Town Hall between 4 and 6 pm for people to be trained on how to use the website and also if necessary to create e mail addresses for people
The feedback we have so far received has been very useful. A major complaint has been that people do not respond when they are contacted by people that are interested in swapping with them. We have now asked everyone to provide a working e mail address and if people have difficulty creating one then the Mutual Exchange Team can do this for them. This should mean that everyone can be contacted and once again we would ask that if you receive an e mail that you respond to it, even if it is to say you are not interested.
Another thing that kept coming up from the audit was that people would like to see photographs of the properties on the website. This is something that we are looking to introduce but it is a very complicated process so it may take a few months to implement.
There was also a bug in the system which meant that people had to keep repeatedly logging in when they were searching for properties. This should now have been rectified and you should only have to log in once.
We are always looking to improve the exchange site and over the next few months you will see changes made that should make it easier to use.
A mutual exchange involves two tenants swapping properties with one another. An exchange can take place between any Registered Social Landlord or Local Authority (ie Council) tenants. If you rent your property from a private landlord you are not able to exchange.
Please read this important information before you register.
Please note that we have now made it compulsory for people to provide some kind of contact information that can be published. Ideally this should be an e mail address and a phone number, but we can accept just one of these. Therefore you must click the button that is labelled - "Show contact details on web site"
If you want to search for a property you can go to the search form.
You will need to register to add your property or get the contact details of a property you are interested in. Go to the registration form.
