Silchester regeneration

We are currently working with our partner, Peabody, to develop new and improved housing and facilities on the western edge of the Silchester Estate. The work is taking place in two phases and will provide new homes for rent, shared ownership and sale on the open market. The project also includes developing a new community facility, new retail unit and improvements to the ground floor of Frinstead House.

Peabody has appointed a contractor, Mace, to carry out the work. Mace is providing regular updates to residents about up and coming works.

The first phase started on site in March 2013 and will be completed in April 2015. There will be 91 new homes: 36 for social rent, 37 for shared ownership and 18 for private sale (now referred to as More West). Improvements to the green area between Frinstead House and Markland House are also part of this phase.

The second phase started in February 2015 with the demolition of 1 – 27 (odd) Shalfleet Drive. Tenants were given the option of moving into the properties completed as part of phase one and those who wished to, moved into their new homes in January. Phase two will create an additional 21 new homes, including four that will be fully accessible to wheelchair users.
