NQT Induction
All Kensington and Chelsea Schools provide organised
programs of school based support to help newly qualified teachers
develop, meet the challenges of their first teaching role and
demonstrate the professional standards for teachers (core). Newly qualified teachers
are assigned to an experienced teacher who will act as their
mentor.
All NQTs are invited to an annual welcome reception early in the
autumn term, This is an opportunity to meet all new school staff in
the borough and to be welcomed by the director of schools
and local councillors. New staff will meet, network and may be able
to access information about the borough and various benefits that
may be offered to you.
Throughout the year you can expect:
- a reduced timetable (in addition to statutory 10 per cent
planning, preparation and assessment time)
- high quality support from a designated induction tutor
- a personalised programme of professional development
activities, including regular observations and feedback
- regular reviews of progress towards meeting the core
standards
- a named contact outside school or college with whom you can
discuss any concerns that go beyond the school/college, or are not
addressed internally
