Computer facilities in Libraries
We have over 100 computers available at every
library for a range of purposes, including emailing a friend,
creating a report and testing your website for accessibility.
Internet access
You can access the internet from all our branches. To find
out more, please visit our Internet Access page, which has details of how
to book an internet computer.
Wireless hotspot access
We offer wireless access to the internet at broadband speeds at
four of our libraries where you can use your own wireless-enabled
device. For more information please visit our Wireless hotspot page.
Microsoft Office
A number of our computers in every branch will have Microsoft
Office installed on them. With this software you can create
documents and presentations. We sell memory sticks so that you are
able to save your work and take it away with you. We do not allow
you to bring in your own disks.
Screen reading software
We have a number of computers that have screen reader software
installed. This enables people with visual impairments to use
a computer to surf the internet or write documents. The software
reads the contents of the screen aloud to you.
Computers in the Children's Libraries
Every library has a computer for children. There are lots of
stories and games to share with your child on the internet. Learn
to use a keyboard together and enjoy the sights and sounds of new
technology.
All the computers have safeguards against children accessing
inappropriate content on the internet. In addition we ask that a
parent or guardian give permission for children to use the
internet. Please bring your child's library card with you
to book time on the children's computer.
