Renewing your library items
How many times can I renew an item?
You can renew items* eight times. Items will need to be
returned and re-issued for any frther renewals.
*Requested items and Inter Library Loan items cannot be
renewed.
As well as coming into the library, you have two options:
- renewing your library items by automated
telephone
- renewing your library items online
Renewing your library items by automated telephone
What do I need to know before I call?
You will need to have:
- Your library membership number - which is
printed on your membership card and starts with 20116
- Your Personal Identification Number (PIN)
If you do not know your PIN, you can ask for it via email by
visiting our Forgotten your
PIN page. Or you can visit your local library to
request your PIN in person. You will need to show your library
membership card if you are requesting your PIN in person.
What's the telephone number?
The phone number is 020 7361 3610.
How does it work?
Dial the above number to connect to the phone renewal system
then:
- Choose option two for borrower details
- Enter your library membership number and PIN as directed
I have used the phone renewal system, but it wouldn't let me
renew my items
Certain items cannot be renewed by phone; these include:
- Items borrowed from outside Kensington and Chelsea
(inter-library loans)
- Items that have been reserved by other readers
- Items that have exceeded the maximum number of renewals

Renewing your library items online
You can now renew items you have on loan from the Library over
the internet using the Library catalogue, iBistro.
What do I need to know before I go online?
You will need to have:
- Your library membership number - which is
printed on your membership card and starts with 20116
- Your Personal Identification Number (PIN)
Important: Your User ID should be entered as
one long number, do not add spaces.
What's the website address?
The address is www.rbkc.gov.uk/librarycatalogue.
You will need to log into "My Account" in order renew
your items.
How does it work?
Once you have logged into the catalogue, choose "My Account"
from the main menu at the top and you will see the following
menu:

Choose "Renew my materials" from the menu. You will see a list
of items you currently have on loan that are available for
renewal..

Renewing all your items
To renew all items: At the top of the list select Renew All
option then click the Renew Selected items button.
Renewing individual items
You can renew one or two items: At the top of the list select
"Renew selected items" option, click the box next to the items you
want to renew, then click the Renew selected items button.
When you have renewed items you will see the following
screen.

I have used the online renewal system, but it wouldn't let me
renew my items
Certain items cannot be renewed online; these include:
- Items borrowed from outside Kensington and Chelsea
(inter-library loans)
- Items that have been reserved by other readers
- Items that have exceeded the maximum number of renewals
- Audio visual items, such as DVDs
If an item cannot be renewed because of these exceptions, you
will see an error message similar to:
