Reading groups

Have you ever read a good book and been dying to talk to somebody about it? Would you like to discuss books in an informal and relaxed atmosphere?

Come along and join one of our reading groups - we have reading groups for adults and children.

Reading groups for adults

If you like reading and sharing your thoughts about books, then a reading group is for you.

They give you an opportunity to discuss what excited, moved or annoyed you about a book, in a relaxed and informal atmosphere.

The group picks a book to read or an author, to discuss at the next meeting.

You may find yourself reading books you wouldn't normally touch or recommending books that had an impact on you as a child or later in life.

Whatever book is chosen there is always a lively discussion afterwards.

Some of the previous books and authors discussed include:

  • William Boyd
  • Margaret Drabble
  • Mark Haddon - The Curious Incident of the Dog in The Night-Time
  • Zoe Heller - Notes on a scandal
  • Robert Louis Stevenson
  • Brian Moore
  • Toni Morrison
  • Maggie O'Farrell

Our reading groups are open to all adult library members.
