Redevelopment of Chelsea Sports Centre
The Royal Borough of Kensington and
Chelsea and Better are delighted to announce that they will be
undertaking an exciting new redevelopment at Chelsea Sports
The scheme, which will see £1.36 million
invested into the centre, will provide a new health and fitness
facility and large multi use studio with dedicated male and female
changing rooms. The new facility will increase the centre’s
capacity to 70 stations of the latest Technogym fitness equipment.
The centre reception will also be refurbished and fast track access
kiosks will be installed.
The fantastic scheme will be completed in a
phased approach commencing Monday 11 November 2013 and will be
fully completed by Summer 2014.
In order to create the much needed additional
gym space, the current sports hall will be closed to allow the
build of a mezzanine gym level with the new changing rooms and
studio beneath. The sports hall will permanently close to the
public from Monday 11 November 2014. If you
were a user of the sports hall then the Chelsea management team
will be in touch with you to help you find an alternative facility.
The existing gym, pool and changing rooms will all remain open
during the development works.
The Royal Borough’s Cabinet agreed the
investment stating; “Getting more people to work out is precisely
why we have ordered this refit and it also why we are building a
brand new centre in North Kensington which we intend to be the very
best in the Capital.”
Cllr Tim Ahern, Cabinet member for leisure
added “We want our residents to have more years of good health and
one of the keys to that is exercise.”
Members will be kept updated on the
developments as they progress, via a development update board in
reception. If you would like to receive our updates via email
please register by emailing firstname.lastname@example.org
Finally, two ‘Meet the Manager’ sessions have
been arranged to discuss the project on Wednesday 20 November and
Wednesday 18 December 6pm – 8pm, meeting in the Centre reception.
We would very much like you to join us.
