Newspapers and magazines

All of our Libraries take daily newspapers and a number of popular magazines. Depending upon the size of the library, magazines range from a small number to over 100 at the Kensington Central Library.

All our Libraries hold a copy of the Kensington Union List of Periodicals (KULOP). KULOP lists the newspaper and magazine holdings we have in the Royal Borough and is available for you to look at.

Every Library takes a local newspaper and most take a Sunday edition. Titles in other languages are also available throughout the Borough. Specialist titles are held at Kensington Central and Chelsea Reference Libraries.

Back issues

We keep back issues of our newspapers and magazines. How far back we keep them depends on the title, so please ask staff at your local library for details.

Both Kensington and Chelsea Reference Libraries keep the Times on microfilm back to 1785 and have an index. The major broadsheet titles (Guardian, Independent, Times, Observer) are kept back to the mid-1990s on CD-ROM at Kensington Central Reference Library.

Access newspapers on-line

You can now access newspapers on-line from your local branch or from home using the NewsUK service or the Times Digital Archive. You will need your library membership number to access the service from home.
