2009 and 2010 opening

The House is available to visit between 14 March 2009 and 13 June 2010.

Visits to 18 Stafford Terrace are by guided tours only. Tours begin with a 10-minute introductory video and last approximately 1.5 hours.

Conventional tours

Led by expert guides, the informative tours give a memorable insight into the Sambournes’ lives and home, from interior decoration, eccentric possessions, to their day to day activities.

Costumed tours

As guests of the Sambournes, enjoy the hospitality of Marion and her staff. Based on Marion Sambourne’s diaries, the costumed tours provide a dramatic account of the lives of the inhabitants of 18 Stafford Terrace.

Saturdays and Sundays 1pm, 2.15pm, 3,30pm.

Groups

On weekdays, conventional tours are available for groups of up to 12 people. For larger groups, it is possible to run two tours at the same time. Groups may bring their own guides.

Price for group of up to 12 people: £72 flat fee.

Schools

Tours led by costumed guides and educational activities are available to school groups. For more information and to book please telephone 020 7471 9156.

Price for class of up to 30 children: £60.

Access

All access to the house is via the basement entrance. The house is arranged over five floors with steep steps both externally and internally.

There is no wheelchair access.

Facilities

Public toilets, shop and the video introduction to the house are in the basement. Tea and coffee are available for pre-booked groups by prior arrangement.

Location

Linley Sambourne House is located at 18 Stafford Terrace, W8 - just a two minute walk from Kensington High Street and the Commonwealth Institute.

From If you walk west along Kensington High Street, in the direction of the Commonwealth Institute, turn right into Phillimore Gardens and take the second right into Stafford Terrace.

Kensington High Street has numerous restaurants and cafes close to both Linley Sambourne House and Leighton House Museum.
