About this event

Senior Curator, Daniel Robbins,  offers an insightful tour of the studio-home where Frederic Leighton created his most iconic work, Flaming June (1895), including a detailed look at the only colour sketch produced alongside the preparatory drawings, now on display in the museum's new wing.  The tour will also include the opportunity to see areas of the house not normally accessible to the general public.

'Colour Sketch for Flaming June' (11 x 11cm) has been returned on permanent loan to Leighton House, accepted under the Cultural Gifts Scheme by HM Government from Sir David Verey CBE, Chairman of The Friends, and allocated to Leighton House, 2023.

This special tour marks the return of Flaming June to London, where it is on display at the Royal Academy of Arts (17 February 2024 - 12 January 2025).

The tour will begin in the basement area at Leighton House,  where the Flaming June display is located, followed by a guided visit to the historic house.
