Leighton's beautifully curated home  provides an exquisite and romantic setting for weddings, vow renewals and civil ceremonies.

Recently licensed for ceremonies, Leighton House in Kensington, London, now offers an exclusive and intimate venue for your wedding.

Entirely yours for the evening, hold your ceremony in the artist's studio, with grand north facing windows and surrounded by Frederic Leighton’s beautiful artworks. Then progress downstairs into the iconic Narcissus and Arab Halls, a stunning backdrop for photography, where drinks and canapés will be served.

From the vibrant Dining Room and elegant Silk Room, guests are free to explore and enjoy the historic rooms throughout the evening, including flowing out into the landscaped garden, offering a tranquil oasis for a London wedding.

What you need to know

  • Maximum capacity: 80 guests for both ceremony and reception
  • Timings: from 6:30pm to 10pm; ceremony suggested at 7:30pm; garden closes at 9:30pm
  • Dancing and amplified music is not permitted
  • Catering: Preferred supplier
  • Step free access: Yes
  • Child friendly: Yes
  • Pets welcome: No
  • Venue Hire fee: £7,000 + VAT
  • Catering packages start from: £6,500 + VAT
  • Bespoke ceremony only costs are available upon request

The Museum’s dedicated events team are always delighted to hear from prospective wedding couples and are ready to assist with planning for your event. We work with a carefully-selected list of suppliers to ensure ours clients’ day runs perfectly, from start to finish.

 

Bovingdons: Leighton House exclusive caterers

We exclusively work with Bovingdons as our caterer in the hiring of our venue. They will assist you in the planning of your big day from start to finish as well as being onsite for the occasion itself. ​

Bovingdons will assist you in the selection of canapes and bowl foods, drinks, chairs, tables and glassware. As well as providing a dedicated waiting team and experienced supervisors to make sure everything runs smoothly on the day.

We have a carefully selected list of florists for every budget and that know how best to dress our unique historical venue.  Providing you with beautiful bespoke florals for your special day that sit perfectly within Leighton House. ​

You are of course welcome to hire your own photographer but the ones we recommend do know the building, ensuring every perfect angle of your special day is captured. ​

Music

Leighton House has long been host to classical  concerts, and we have strong connections with some wonderful classical music associations. ​ We can easily put you in touch and they will assist you in choosing the perfect musicians to accompany your wedding​.

**Please note that dancing and amplified music is not permitted**

Registrars service

As Leighton House is located  in Kensington and Chelsea, your civil ceremony at the museum would be attended, conducted and registered by two registrars from the Kensington and Chelsea Register Office, usually based at the Chelsea Old Town Hall.  The registrars are extremely customer-focussed and are committed to delivering your ceremony to the very highest standards, exactly the way you want it.  Always displaying the utmost professionalism, they are very experienced, delivering around 2,000 ceremonies across the borough each year.  Your special day will be in very safe hands.​

Once you’ve booked Leighton House for your ceremony, you’ll need to then secure the registrars for the same time.
