September 11th Memorial Service

11 September 2003

The Mayor of Kensington and Chelsea, Councillor Christopher Buckmaster attended a special memorial service to commemorate the second anniversary of the September 11th terrorist attacks.

The service at St. Mary Abbots Church was given by the Rev'd. Gillean Craig and started at 1.10pm, the time the first attack occurred.

The Mayor led those paying respect and presented a reading to the congregation. Speaking after the service he said:" It is important that we never forget the terrible events of September 11th. Our thoughts of course lie with the friends and families of those who died or were injured on that terrible day."

Four representatives from the London Fire Brigade also attended the service as a mark of respect for the hundreds of New York fire men that died that day.
