Kensington and Chelsea appoints new chief traffic engineer11 September 2003The Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea has promoted Mahmood Siddiqi to Chief Traffic Engineer. Among the projects Mr Siddiqi is responsible for are a proposed major redesign of Sloane Square and traffic management proposals to improve pedestrian movement at the South Kensington underground station used by visitors to the Natural History Museum, Science Museum and Victoria and Albert Museum. He is also charged with developing the Council's guidelines for improving the appearance of the Borough's streets through the Council's ongoing streetscape initiative to promote the design of uncluttered roads in the Royal Borough. He brings with him experience in both the private and public sectors having worked previously for Westminster City Council, Wandsworth Borough Council and the Project Centre. In this latter role he was project manager for the major improvements to Oxford Street in 1996. Mr Siddiqi was previously Principal Traffic Engineer at the Royal Borough. His appointment follows the departure of the Borough's former Chief Traffic Engineer, Mark Raisbeck, to Parkman. Notes for Editors: Contact Media
