VANGUARD
A project to reconcile the needs of modern living with the
protection of the neighbourhood both in terms of architectural
character and residential amenity
A small group of Chelsea residents has been working for several
months with the Chelsea Society and a team of Royal
Borough planners and councillors on a project, known as
Vanguard, which aims to reconcile the desire to improve and enlarge
homes with the impact this has on neighbours and the need to
maintain the special architectural character of the area. The
project has received DCLG funding and, it is hoped, will in due
course mature into a Neighbourhood Plan. In addition it is expected
that the project will inform a review of Council policies in these
areas, across the Royal Borough.
