What about the traffic?
The bridge is closed to traffic but not to
pedestrians. Cyclists must dismount when crossing because the two
metre footway is not wide enough for pedestrians and cyclists.
We have carefully planned the work with TfL
including the timing of the work and diversion routes to help ease
the disruption. During the work TfL is constantly monitoring
traffic in the area and on the diversion routes. Their
Traffic Engineers will adjust traffic signals timings as required
to smooth the flow of traffic.
Traffic is being diverted across Chelsea
Bridge (A3216) and Battersea Bridge (A3220). These bridges can be
reached via Chelsea Embankment (A3212) north of the Thames and
Battersea Park Road (A3205) south of the Thames.
