Have your say on the future of the Earls Court
Exhibition Centres
Residents are being asked to give their views to help shape the
future of the Earls Court and West Kensington area.
To have your say on the potential redevelopment of the Earls
Court and West Kensington Opportunity Area, please
click here where you can complete a questionnaire
before Friday 29 October 2010.
The company that owns the Earls Court Exhibition Centres,
Empress State building and Seagrave Road car park is thinking about
redeveloping the area after the Olympic Games in 2012.
To make sure that the right development occurs in the right
place, the Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea and Hammersmith
& Fulham Council, together with the Mayor of London, are
drawing up a planning framework for the area.
This detailed document, called a Supplementary Planning Document
(SPD), will take into account a whole range of issues, from how
much housing could be provided to public transport, open space,
community facilities and the design and layout of any new
buildings, public spaces and streets. It will also set out a series
of requirements to reduce the impact of building work on
neighbouring residents. The SPD also seeks to improve the
road network and access between the two boroughs.
A draft of the planning framework will be published for
consultation in the New Year, but the boroughs and Mayor of London
want local residents, businesses and visitors to have their say at
this early stage. They want to know what you like about living,
working or visiting the area and what you would like changed
through potential regeneration and redevelopment.
