Notting Hill Carnival 2007

Enforcement

Street Trading Enforcement Teams

The Street Trading Enforcement Teams are made up of enforcement officers from all different sections within the Council and are supported by the Metropolitan Police. Their aim is to detect and enforce all illegal street trading activities including the sale of alcohol.

Again this year the Enforcement Teams will be supported by the Parks Police and officer from Environmental Health and Trading Standards. The Enforcement Teams will operate from 6am to midnight with a team also on duty over night to monitor the area.

Night Time Enforcement and Monitoring

A Street Trading Enforcement Team works each night of the Carnival. The Enforcement officer gives a briefing on Sunday and Monday mornings of any findings or incidents that took place over night.

They have two responsibilities

  • Illegal street trading
  • Monitoring of sound systems

Illegal Trading: The entire Carnival area is patrolled for any sign of vehicles hiding in the hope of trading during the Carnival days.

Sound Systems: The Enforcement Teams will once again be assisted by Parks Constables.
