Notting Hill Carnival 2007

Panorama clear up

Workman sweeping rubbish

Carnival for some people starts on Saturday evening with a "Panorama" held in the north of the Carnival area at Emslie Horniman's Pleasance in Kensal Road.

Panorama is the national steel band competition that is a very popular event and requires very careful crowd management. The Police and Council co-operate closely to ensure that overcrowding does not become dangerous, for example by placing a large video screen in Emslie Horniman's Pleasance to draw some of the crowd away for the performance area on Kensal Road.

SITA is responsible for cleaning all streets surrounding this area as soon as the Police allow access after the "Panorama" and before 5.30am on Sunday morning.
