Listed buildings search

Search for listed buildings in the borough to find out if building consent is required.

There are some 3,800 listed buildings in the borough. These are buildings which are historically or architecturally important. The lists are drawn up by the Department of Culture, Media and Sport.

Listed building consent is required for most alterations to a listed building whether they are outside, inside or affect a curtilage building. If you are not sure whether consent is required, please contact Planningline on 020 7361 3012 or use the Council's pre-application advice service.

Those who carry out unauthorised works to any part of a listed building may be prosecuted and could be imprisoned for up to 6 months and/or fined up to £20,000. This is in addition to the liability for legal costs and the cost of removing the offensive works.

Buildings are classified to show their relative importance: Grade I, Grade II* or Grade II. To search for the borough's listed buildings, use the button below.

Information given in the listed building descriptions is brief and does not give exhaustive information on the significance of each building.
