Draft Strategic Housing Market Assessment Report
In late 2008, the Council commissioned Fordham Research to
undertake a Strategic Housing Market Assessment(SHMA). The purpose
of this study is to investigate the housing requirements across
tenures and population groups within the borough, and also to
consider the impact of migration and other economic factors on
housing issues. The study is vital to ensure future provision of
housing is appropriate to the requirements of residents in the
area. The study has involved conducting a major borough-wide
housing survey and also analysis of many secondary data
sources.
Several seminars have been held by Fordham Research and the
Council in order to gain the input of stakeholders. Many of the
views of local people, businesses and councillors have also been
taken into account in the report.
